Presentation Convent School, Stapenhill,
Burton on Trent, Staffordshire.

The Presentation Convent School catered for children aged 5-11 years of age. During the 1950s, about 50 students, divided into three mixed age classes, were provided with a traditional, academic, Irish - Catholic education by more or less talented, mostly Irish, nuns. With failing finances and falling vocations, the school closed in the mid-1960s and the remaining nuns retreated to the main house in Matlock. The Convent is currently (2001) a nursing home.
